A home standby generator provides power in the event that the utility fails. When the power goes out, the generator kicks in automatically providing power and protecting your home. The most common reasons for power failure are storms and utility company equipment failure. Home standby generators are hard wired into your electric panel via a transfer switch, and hard piped in to either natural gas or LP, whichever feeds the home.
Older homes may be inadequate in terms of overall power outlets and supply (they often have either twist-in porcelain glass fuse boxes or cartridge fuse boxes). Service upgrades will increase the electrical capacity of your system. Also, old panels often lack space to add circuits and may be unsafe.

Had another project that needed to be completed. Once again, my request for a quote was handled very quickly (estimator came out in 3 days time). The work was scheduled within a couple of weeks, and the electrician that showed up was on time and did a great job. I am so happy with the work they did, & I'm glad to have a "go-to" electrician.
