I started doing electrical work in 1976 working in California. I worked for one company for 18 years before I decided to get my own license and move to Las Vegas. I started Desert Home Electric in 1996 and it's been nothing but a good experience. My work background in California had me working in all areas of the electrical trade: residential tract homes, high end custom homes, light commercial to heavy industrial. All types of remodels and service work including older homes built back in the early 1900's.
My # 1 concern when putting together a company was to look at people's attitude before I looked at what kind of an electrician they might be. To this day that is the driving force behind what kind of people we hire. An employee needs to be a good person first before we figure out what kind of worker they might be.
Every company feels like they are the best. Everyone can't be the best so there has to be a realistic approach to who you are. Our company philosophy is that there are a lot of companies out there that might be as good as us - but no one does it better. WE stand by that. It means we are always trying to improve what we do day in and day out.
We do pretty much the whole spectrum of electrical work. This includes custom homes, tract homes, light commercial, remodels, repairs, underground, landscape lighting and low voltage work. This is our #1 area by far. We do work for individuals who are building their own home. We have a lot of contractors who build 3 to 10 high end homes a year - either as specs or for their own individual clients. We do high end tract homes. These are tract homes only in the sense that they are built in a community of 10 - 50 houses in one area.

Called and spoke to Steve about changing a ceiling fan, replacing a light switch, and fixing a light that wasn't working. Steve was very professional and very informative. He answered all my questions and he was able to set me up with an appointment to get my project taken care of. The technician Gabriel came out today and was very professional.
He called when he was on his way, took care of problems very fast, and made additional recommendations to avoid the problems we were having. Even tho my project was small they made me feel important and valued. Will be using again and I will definitely be recommending.

Critical: Professionalism, Value Rude and unprofessional. Didn't know how to do the job, and made the problem worse. The electrician left without fixing the problem and directed us to "his boss." Called the boss and he had an argument with my dad and hung up the phone. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND! Services: Light fixture repair, Light fixture installation, Electrical panel repair

Great company to work with. What was thought to be a dead circuit turned out to be an unknown switch that was turned off. The electrician was patient and credited me for missing the switch in my house after a couple of hours of tracing. He also repaired a damaged plug in the garage and fixed some exposed wiring he found in my attic. I appreciate this company's honest pricing and quality workmanship! Will recommend to my friends and co-workers!

The electrician that came out to our house today was awesome! He was very respectful, efficient and worked quickly. He fixed an issue that the warranty company messed up on multiple times. He also explained to us what the issue was and how he fixed it. We now have electricity in our bathrooms again! Thank you so much.

We had the best experience with this company. The Techs Oscar snd Jose were not only competent, but concerned about solving our problem. The problem was detected and solved and the fee was astoundingly fair. Owner/Manager Steve followed up and was also interested in seeing the job to a successful end. I can't say enough good about Desert Home Electric, except that you won't be sorry you chose them!

$575. Initial quote was $350 for mounting a ceiling fan and replacing 2 exhaust fan motors - no duct work. Labor only. Called them back a day later to add replacing 2 more exhaust fan motors for a total of 4 exhaust fan motors. Did not give me a new estimate over the phone. I provided the ceiling fan and 4 exhaust fan motors with attached plastic fan.
On the date of the job, 1 electrician spent 1.5 hours at my property to complete all items. That's a pretty steep price per hour. Electrician performing the job did not mention the extra $225 for the job. 6 Days later $575 charge appeared on my credit card. Still no communication with me about changed price. I will be disputing the additional charge with my credit card company.

Steve at Desert Home Electric is nothing short of AMAZING. He save me from being ripped off thousands of dollars. I had gone through my home warranty company to get a quote for $4200 for a new bigger panel after they said mine was over loaded. Steve came the next day discovered it was a bad breaker fixed it the next day for 1/10th of the cost. Money can't buy integrity in Las Vegas. Steve is an honest guy and does great work. Desert Home has been amazing. I have had some problems with the electrical service and they have been fast and efficient doing the repairs. They also installed just about every light fixture in our house. Steve has always had very fair prices for me and has always done an outstanding job. They stand behind their work and are honest. Awesome company, I called after hours and they called me back first thing this morning. We scheduled a service call between 9-11, Ociel was here at 9:00 on the dot, I showed him what I thought the problem was, he checked it out, put in a new breaker, problem solved! He was out of here by 9:20, and the price was more than reasonable, happy customer here, I highly recommend these folks, dependable and trustworthy!
