Ever since S&S first applied its expertise to residential electrical contracting, we have been known as the "old home" specialists. This says as much about our troubleshooting skills and the care and concern we put into every house call we make, as it does about the experience we have had working with leading architects and remodeling contractors to preserve and update the older homes along Chicago's north shore and in its northwestern suburbs. Many older homes have what is known as "knob and tube" wiring.
S&S began servicing commercial and light industrial customers in 1992, and today it remains one of the main thrusts of our business. Many of our new customers are local businesses who find out about S&S from our many satisfied customers. We frequently find ourselves fixing problems caused by other contractors who didn't have the expertise or consideration to do the job right, the first time.

Steve got back to us very quickly and was on site the very next day. He identified the problem with the wiring and restored power. We wish we had found him first. We had called one of the big box companies we had used before. They scheduled appts then cancelled for almost 2 weeks. Their initials should stand for Already Been Cancelled. Anyway, we were fortunate to have found S&S. Outstanding service all around!

Steve Schmadebeck of S&S Electrical Services installed 4 exterior light fixtures, replaced an exterior GFI outlet, two interior switches, and fixed two light bulb issues inside our house. Steve was very efficient and cordial doing the work. Steve even came back a couple of days later at no charge to check a flickering light in one of the exterior light fixtures, which he determined had the wrong type of light bulb. A proper light bulb was put in and the flickering stopped. I will definitely call him the next time we need electrical work done in our house.

S & S Electrical answering service was courteous and double checked my information for understanding including the reason for the call. I received a call back from a technician in less than 24hrs to schedule an appointment for later that evening. He showed up on time and made sure he took his time to address all of my concerns. He even had additional suggestions for the overall electrical safety of my home.
My call was to discuss if I could have an EV charger added to my homes current electrical panel. Would not hesitate to call again when I'm ready to move forward with this project and actually get an EV.

I'll start by saying that this review is based solely on not receiving a call back for a quote/service. I recently moved into a new home and needed an electrical panel replaced. I called S&S on Feb. 17, it is now March 2, and spoke to a woman who took my information and said I would receive a call back to schedule time for them to come out. I decided to call based on great reviews and it being a father & son duo. I know things are crazy right now but to wait half a month with no communication led me to seek out another company.

Steve did nothing in my house, and yet I have to give him a 5-star review because he saved me a lot of money just over the phone. He could have just come out to my house and charged me for the trip, but instead he took the time to make some quick suggestions, which led me to make a simple fix to my issue without spending a penny. I appreciate the honest help, and I'd be happy to give him my business in the future.

Steve and his son did a great job installing fixtures. They were fast and efficient, knew exactly what to do and got it done right. They were careful about the rugs and bare floors, and cleaned up all the necessary debris. We hope to have them do another job in our attic in the spring.
