Mel Carr began his career at Phillip Schuyler High School's vocational electrical shop class. After high school Mel worked for local contractors in the Capital Region, focusing on larger scale commercial and industrial jobs. His years in the industry and experience with all forms of electrical contracting allowed him to study the National Electrical Code and New York State Residential Code to become a master electrician. In 1976, Mel opened a little electrical shop in a garage near his home in Colonie, NY.

Excellent estimate. Dan is very knowledgeable, friendly, professional, approachable. Carlos his associate did an excellent job of walking through the house and addressing my questions and concerns. Carlos fully explained his thinking on all the components inside the house that I asked about. Dave the service manager thoroughly answered my questions via telephone about comparing electric consumption prices of electric boiler, geothermal heat pump, air source heat pump, oil, and propane, as well as my queries about the feasibility of installing an electric boiler with our current service panel.
He gave focused, relevant information. I am on the annual service plan and Dave's brief consultation by phone saved me time and provided valuable information. Written estimate well-documented and clearly itemized.

Gary from Mel Carr Electrical, immediately identified the problems, because there were a couple, explained what they were and the cost involved with the repairs. Gary was respectful of our home, personable, professional and a very competent electrician. This is a reputable company with a solid reputation. I like their business model. Mel Carr's approach to problem solving and customer service is appreciated. Replacing a panel and restoring power is a tedious and complicated job. The team of Zach and Carlos worked tirelessly until the job was finished at 8PM to make sure power to the furnace was restored for a very frigid February evening. It's been a while since I've been very confident in a home repair contractor. Good job! Two thumbs up for sure!

The technician/electrician, Keith, performed a safety inspection at my home. He was courteous, professional and thorough. He pointed out items that needed attention and entertained and answered my questions regarding his findings. He also provided an itemized list of said items and provided options that I could be comfortable with in having concerns addressed.

Gary came to our home to provide an estimate. He had time to complete the project the same day, and we had two new outlets within 2 hours. He also gave us some quick advice and explained the pricing well. Friendly, professional, and efficient! No mess, even though he had to go through our attic, basement, and cut through some drywall. Everything about working with this company was convenient and professional. I would absolutely recommend! Wayyyy better than getting the runaround with home depot.

Dylan and Dave arrived in the scheduled time frame. Both were attentive, knowledgeable, polite. The work was quick and well done.
