Ron Nelson founded Nelson Electric Co. in 1969. John Negro came to work for Nelson Electric in 1973 as a journeyman wire-man. Mr. Negro worked in the field until 1975 when he became a project manager and began to purchase the company. In 1977 he completed the purchase at the age of 28. The company at that time consisted of eight people primarily focused on residential work.
The disaster we experienced in Eastern Iowa this summer is unprecedented. The response that we saw in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and other surrounding communities, as well as other states who stepped up to help us, is a testimate to the quality of people we have here. On Saturday, I was fortunate to personally witness it, thru the efforts of all the people at Nelson Electric, at our house on 7th St. S.W. I cannot say enough about the willingness to help that we experienced, and I cannot begin to repay all those who participated.
The prevention of occupational induced injuries and illnesses is of such consequence that it will be given precedence over operating productivity. To the greatest degree possible, management will provide mechanical and physical facilities required for personal safety and health in keeping with the highest standards.
