PK & Altman was the best! They visited my home within two days of my initial contact to give me a price quote, and scheduled and completed the job within two days after that. They showed up on time, their work was high quality, and they held to their original price estimate even though they encountered a couple of challenges during the job. I recommend them highly!

I hired PK and Altaman for lighting fixure and outlet fixing. Original appointment was at 9-AM. At 10.30 AM, no show. I called them - a lovely receptionist stated that there is an emergency and the tech will be here at 2 PM. AT 2.30 PM - no show. I call again - another receptionist says 'there is an emergency - he needs to make a stop somewhere else first'.
Here I am took the day off (which I don't get paid btw) and pregnant and aggravated. This was an unnecessary stress for me. I had paid them 50% down payment for the work ahead of time. As of now, no work done. No courtesy call that there was a delay. Never would recommend them to anyone. Hire someone else - but not them.

Have had PK visit for various electrical repairs/upgrades and Eugene and the other electricians do high quality professional work. They have gone the extra mile to minimize the amount of drywall holes that needed to be cut and tried to help me troubleshoot an issue over the phone instead of by default sending out and charging for a service call. Great service from all at PK and highly recommend!

Pedro was great! He really knows what he is doing. I had a power outage at 1am on Christmas eve while having people over at my apartment. PK & Altman responded and diagnosed the issue quickly and it was fixed within the hour! Thank you so much for saving the night, I will definitely be a returning costumer

I needed recessed lighting installed in my new apartment. I called PK Electric and they scheduled an estimator to review the work within 24 hours. Peter the owner was very knowledgeable and even suggested the best lighting solution. I got the work done and the price was fair. I had 2 electricians who were fast and efficient and very clean--followed all the covid protocols. I will use them again.

The electrician they dispatched went above and beyond. My wall mounted TV could not be removed and yet he was able to install the outlet with only 8 between the TV and the wall. Any other electrician would have left and said, call me once the TV is removed. This guy was GREAT! Service: Socket or switch installation

My experience with PK and Altman Electric was excellent. From my initial contact with Elizabeth in the main office to the service that was provided by Raphael and Omar, the staff was professional, polite, and punctual. I called on a Tuesday, and Elizabeth scheduled me in for Wednesday! And Raphael and Omar arrived an hour early. Before starting, Raphael reviewed a TO DO LIST with me. A ceiling fan and two outlets, including a GFI and light fixture, were either replaced or serviced. Pricing is competitive. Very pleased and would highly recommend.

Can't begin to say how pleased I was with the service! We had a breaker blow and I found them on Angie's List. Their rating was well worth it given how quickly they arrived and even quicker with the fix. I was so pleased that the next time we had electrical problems I knew just who to call! Services: Panel repair, Socket or switch installation, Socket or switch repair

Scheduled an appointment to address a serious electrical problem - they told us 12:30 to 1:30 arrival. No word by 3pm. Called them at 3, and they said the guy would arrive at 4. At 5 the electrician called us to say that someone would contact us the next day to reschedule. Short story: I wasted a day at home waiting for an electrician who never came.
The need to reschedule is understandable and acceptable, but not after I've waited at home the entire day. At 2 or even 2:30pm, you should have already called us to explain that he would be late or to reschedule. I will post this as a warning to others to avoid your company.

We were moving and needed to have electrical work completed at the new apartment. We didn't know anyone that we could get a recommendation from so we google searched electricians in NYC and PK & Altman came up in that search. It's hard to know what you are getting when you search a company but I read some other reviews and reached out to them.
They were amazing! They were professional, responsive, they showed up when they said they would, they adjusted the bill to reflect services that we wanted to avail ourselves of but that were not able to be done because of the makeup of the ceilings. I really can't say enough about how wonderful they were. Additionally, I don't usually take the time to write a review but this company deserves it, hands down. Don't hesitate to use them!

I recently had a problem at my bakery which required emergency electrical service. PK was fast, responsive, and someone was here within the hour. We didn't realize at the time but with the electrician's help we found that the issue was actually with ConEd, and the same electrician even came back the same night after I called a second time with more information and needing further help. They called ConEd on our behalf and helped us get someone here to fix the issue within an hour.

I've had to call PK Electric twice and my experiences with the electricians Eugene and Andy have been positive. I am happy to be able to support a small local business. Also, I feel like their price to value is extremely competitive compared to the bigger chains. The last two times I have had to call PK Electric, Michelle helped me over the phone to understand my issues and then realized that my problem wasn't really a problem and was sincerely happy to save my money without needing to send an electrician to my home.
She could have taken my money and she did what was best for her customer. I really appreciate that she was being honest. My only recommendation would be improving customer communication and closing the loop. I have had emails gone not responded in the past. If you're stuck in that situation as a customer, please do make sure to call.

These guys spent 3 days working in a house across the street from me. Two toughs sitting in their van shooting the breeze more than working. they threw all of their garbage out the truck window, food wrappers, coffe cups, plastic bags from the electrical supply house, parts scraps, two packs worth of cigarette butts etc. I picked up some of their electrical garbage handed it through the truck window and aked them to please stop throwing their garbage on the street. Now the job is done and im outside cleaning up after these slobs. I wouldnt let these two in my house.

I had a good experience with this company. They came out the next day after i called. Arrived promptly (which in itself for contractors is refreshing). Fairly basic job to asses cause of outlets not working in 2 rooms and replace a faulty third. They did it all quickly, efficiently, and friendly. Think their prices seem in line with other firms and standard $50 callout charge which is frustrating but what can you do. Was a couple hundred bucks but money well spent. Would use them again

I had a small project and needed an estimate. I was surprised that they came! Everyone else that I called that they were too busy, or it was too small! I was very happy when they came out, and not only did they finish in a timely manner but the technician was extremely professional. Job was also very reasonably priced, I highly recommend this company.

I had a recommendation from a neighbor to call this company about the installation of a ceiling fan. I spoke with Jeannette, who answered the phone, and was quoted $150 hr, $45 for transportation and $50 for a certificate of insurance. I asked her how long their warranty for their work was, and we entered the Twilight Zone. Trying to nail her down on a specific time period necessitated that I be put on hold while she went to her boss; when she returned, I was told that he decided to "pass" on this job. If you are an intelligent consumer asking questions, they don't want to do business with you, it seems. Glad I dodged this bullet!

Update 2 years later: they are now calling themselves NY Empire Electrical Contracting. Don't be fooled. They suck. An outlet they installed has never worked in my mother's apartment. She called them, they came, pressed the reset button and left, then sent a $200 bill. Really. update 7 months later: their work has now failed inspection three times. they send someone different each time. it never ends with these guys.
Poor communication with the client and with each other, no supervision, just awful. What should have been about 2 days of work took at least 6 visits, I think more, but I lost count. I realized belatedly that they had to be watched every minute. If there is a way to do something wrong, they will do it. One time I had asked them to change a switch and they instead changed the bulbs. Really.
Then they left. Another day, somehow they misunderstood my super, who told them they could not channel the ceiling (it's concrete). They thought they could not channel the wall, which makes no sense, as they had done so everywhere else throughout the apartment. Without notifying me (the client!), they made the attached mess on the walls using wire mold. Luckily I came home early that day! I had no problem with the demeanor of the people on the phones, but they don't add anything to the process.

It's been quite a while since I've even signed into my good 'ol Yelp account (oh how I have missed thee) and I literally just had to after this ridiculously rude phone call I just had with the lady who answered my call at this place. I am an Interior Designer, I have a client with a built-in case piece in desperate need of lighting solutions for said built-in.
This is the first place I called from my trusty Google search, mostly because they were close to the top and the description stated they've been in business for many, many years (50+ years if memory serves). Well how in the heck that has happened I don't quite understand! I said hello to the lady who answered the phone and she asked what she could do for me.
I explained my scenario and said I wanted to find out about getting a quote, to which she responded "okay, so how can I help you?" Umm, you can help me by checking your attitude and not acting as if I just called you at home in the middle of your vacation or something! Fine. Whatever. Deep breath. I repeated myself, to which she started hammering with random question like have they the company been to the address before.
I get what she was asking, but the way she asked it was so rude I was starting to get worked up so I think I replied something like "I don't know if you've ever been to the building but as far as I know not to this apartment" to which she said "hold on" and did that annoying this where they instantly play music before you even say okay or thank you. Fine. Whatever.
Deep breath. She comes back and rudely asks me (as in no bother to thank me for holding or making sure I was ready to listen, just pick up the phone and start talking) what kind of lights will need to be installed. I explain, for the third time, that I am not sure as we need a professional to come and take a look and LET US KNOW what our lighting options are as it's a built-in.
She abruptly places me on hold again and comes back to tell me she needs to know the exact lighting needed otherwise she will have to talk to her boss. Huh? So this whole time who have you been talking to? I'm so confused. and at this point have no idea how I can be any more clear as to what it is I am asking for. Basically, I said "nevermind" to which she said "okay, goodbye" and hung up.
I just don't get it. Do you want business or not? If I was asking for something that can't be done by your company then say so. Or, here's a thought, if you don't know then put me through to someone who does. She was clearly putting me on hold to ask someone else questions, so at the end of the day you just lost a potential lifetime customer for being rude from the moment you said hello and for not trying to be the least bit helpful. I don't get it.
