The customer service is garbage. I called 6times to order my phone. Then when I stayed home all day to receive it never showed up

These guys showed up on time and put a new lighting fixture in within a few minutes--talk about quick and efficient! Left everything clean and tidy with no clean up for me to do. Very impressed and will use them again. Will also recommend them to friends. Thanks Excel Electric!

Excel has a great service guy. Every time he comes over he is happy and so helpful. Couldn't ask for a better electrician.

I have never been as ripped off as I was this morning. Called them this week to schedule as I have a ceiling fan that stopped working so I assumed an electrician would be the right person. Instead of learning about my problem to see if it was something that maybe they couldn't do, they put me on the schedule and told me it was a $75 hourly fee.

I was ok with that because I know nothing about these things and just wanted my fan back. Guy comes and within 9 minutes determines it's the Wall switch and says he doesn't work on those. Then says their hourly charge is $110. I paid him $75 as that's what I was told. So here's the thing - the scheduler should have taken the time to explain that fans are usually a switch issue and maybe a handyman would be a better route.

Better yet, they should have acted like an appliance repair and ordered the part and then put that $$ toward ultimately fixing the problem. If they're not in that business they should TELL you that when you call. In addition when I called later - despite me being friendly (at the beginning of the call. not so much at the end) the receptionist was IMMEDIATELY condescending and rude.

Instead of saying "I'm sorry there was a misunderstanding. Let's figure out what we can do, " she cut me off, stated that their hourly fee was $110 then went into a babble about voice mail that I didn't even follow. My dad even called to try to reason with them and the owner stuck up for his receptionist. Stay far far away from these criminals.

Excellent service comes from the top down and as a business owner myself I appreciate great communication and follow through. The folks at Excel under promised and over delivered. They came out two days ahead of the scheduled time, located a faulty underground power cable, dug it up and fixed it in no time. Great work guys!

I am inspired to write a review after reading the only other 1-star review on this page. I honestly am really surprised because I've only had really great experiences with Excel. We've used them a half a dozen times since we bought our house four years ago. They have always arrived at 7:30am (seriously) ready to go, no waiting around for these guys! I've had two separate technicians come so far and each have been friendly and knowledgeable, and they got the job done with no problems ever. I've simply have had no problems at all with Excel.

I do agree it's a little strange (maybe just "small-towny" or "mom and pop-ey") how they set appointments. The receptionist always sends me over to a voice mail, and one of the schedulers calls me back. Never have I been able to schedule right then and there. Also one time after the floods, they said they were too busy and too uncertain to put me in the books.

They couldn't give me a timeline. I thought that was a little strange, but understandable under the circumstances. I think it would have been more professional or reassuring if they at least had a running waiting list going and put my name down rather than just saying "sorry, busy, call back later". Otherwise, I think Excel has good, reliable service. In fact, I'm calling them today. I was just online getting their number when I saw the Yelp reviews in my Google search.

As a heating contractor, I have a customer who is a victim of the 2013 flood in Boulder. She needed electrical upgrades to comply with the City of Boulder codes. I referred her to Excel Electric, a firm that I have recommended to my customers for 18 years. Over a period of 10 days, my customer called Excel Electric three times to schedule service.

Each time she was told that they would call her back. No calls were returned. I stopped by the Excel office in Niwot to find out why the calls to a flood victim were not being returned. I spoke with Corey Heil, the President of the firm. He said they were "slammed" and that they were only servicing existing customers. I understand. I, too, have been slammed taking care of flood victims.

I asked why they could not call her back and tell her that message. Corey responded, if I take five minutes to call 60 customers---you do the math!" When I asked why his office staff could not relay the info to a potential customer on the first, or subsequent calls, Cory became angry and told me to "get out" and pointed to the door. I will not be referring ANY of my good customers to Excel Electric in the future.

I had no choice but to employ Excel through a general contractor named J Davis Builders who I ended up firing. He only worked with the worst sub- contractors and Excel was no exception. We were also living out of state so they clearly took advantage of us not being there. After I terminated the contractor, I contacted Excel so they could finish their job.

It took about 3 days to finally talk to someone about our situation. The guy basically said he was busy, which is understandable but he was also difficult. I told him that we paid for a package deal and we needed him to come out and finish the job but he wasn't very willing. I realized then that I was wasting my time and gave the job to a great contractor who did a fantastic job and is in the process of fixing their shoddy work.

After I checked the billing with closer inspection I'm finding out they billed us for items such as wiring the garage door which to our knowledge and to our inspection report, worked just fine. They installed and billed us for xenon under cabinet light. When we went to open it, only one bulb works in each light. All of our electric outlet covers are installed crooked.

I decided to write this review after I contacted them today. I wanted to see if I could buy another under cabinet light from them to match the rest of the kitchen. During the remodel, we purchased under cabinet lights from Excel that are difficult to find. The person said she she would find out the cost and call me right back. It's now been 8 hrs and I'm still waiting. I'd also like to note that we paid close to 6K for the job.

I think I deserve at least a call back. I realize one Yelp review isn't going to bring their business down but I just want people to be aware and shop around before committing to service for your house. There are plenty of great people out there who don't take advantage of consumers. Overall poor workmanship and terrible customer service.
