Last week after arriving home with groceries my husband went to flip on the high hat light switch while I had my back to him and I heard this long crackling sound at the same time that I saw a flash. I quickly turned around and my husband was going to the breaker box and not saying a word so I knew he was in mode. I quickly grabbed the fire extinguisher in case there was any wires burning behind the wall. Thankfully from what we could tell there was not.
But we are not electricians. My husband called a service we have that contacts area electricians for you and one called back, said all was good just not to use any of the other lights on that switch and he would see use the following Thursday as in a whole week. I could not believe when my husband told me later on that was what was going down. My exact words were oh hell no.
I got on with the company we use explained what happened and they said hold on. That's where Mike comes in. He immediately got off the Wantagh Pkwy and came to our home in Levittown. He made sure all the mains were off then showed us that we still had a live wire cooking away in there. Most likely nothing would have happened because we weren't going to mess with it but you never know.
Plus we have old fashioned fixtures in our home so Mike updated us into the 21st Century with some nice looking 3way lighting fixture. He is a somewhat quiet but truly down to earth guy with a lot of patients and family values. He was here for about 45 minutes and cleaned up after himself including I am sure the dust that was on my table. If you are looking for an honest, hard worker, who knows his stuff look no further.

Unreliable and untrustworthy. I had a 4:00 pm appointment with Mike for an estimate. I needed to leave work early to meet him. I confirmed the 4pm appointment at 3:00 pm. When he did not show by 4:20, I called and it was sent to voicemail after 2 rings. I then got a text from Mike that he needed to stop by another job, which apparently he was not going to mention to me since I had not heard from him at 4:20.
When he did not show by 5:20 pm, I told Mike to forget the appointment. He never even bothered to respond or apologize. I have attached a screenshot of the text messages. This is precisely the type of contractor you want to avoid.

Mike has done very nice work for my mother, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. The work done has included CAC connection, generator transfer switch installations and full fuse to breaker upgrades. All his work has been top notch, done neatly and at a reasonable price. He does the work when he says he will and communicates with you like he should. I am a home inspector myself and I am very happy with the work I have seen him do and will continue to refer Mike of MS Electric to my family and friends as well as use him myself in the future when needed.

A couple of months ago my electric panel began to arc. Having moved in to my home less than a year ago, I knew of no electricians in the area. I placed a request through Home Advisor about 10pm on a Saturday, and Mike from MS electric responded within the hour. He stopped in the following Monday, removed two bad circuit breakers, and set up to have the panel replaced. Since then he returned, did the job in under 4 hours, was efficient, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Excellent communication throughout. Highly recommended!

Mike is great! He upgraded my line to 200 amp and it looks awesome! Mike was very professional and his communication with me was frequent. I've only owned my house for a year and it was a pleasure to meet Mike: he gave me a reasonable price (less than all of the other guys I hard over for estimates). I highly recommend him!

We called on a Sunday for an emergency electrical issue and Mike showed up on Monday morning and got the job done quickly at a reasonable price. I called MS Electric to get a quote on installing a heavy duty outlet for my new dryer. His answering service suggested I text so I left message. Mike texted back rather quickly and after telling him what I needed, he gave me a price and said he could get to me in a couple days. After I told him I couldn't wait, he kindly fit me in his schedule and came a couple hours later. He was knowledgeable and professional and I would definitely recommend his services.

Mike was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He resolved an issue with a loose connection for the outlet that was connected to my dryer. He worked quickly and was thorough. Mike also helped secure two outlets, which caused problems for the past few years. Very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Mike at MS electric was really terrific. He was prompt, professional and was upfront and clear about the type of work and cost. He helped fix mistakes from a previous electrician, really can't thank him enough. What was so helpful is that he warned me about how certain things weren't exactly up to code. I tried to save a few $ at first, but sure enough the electrical inspector said these changes need to be addressed, and Mike tied up the loose ends.
I know his company is in high demand so I definitely recommend calling him. He even talked me through some issues over the phone and never charged me. He's a very personable guy, I'm glad I found an electrician who is trustworthy.
