REA Energy Cooperative, Inc. was formed in 1937 to provide reliable electric service at an affordable price for rural residents in Western Pennsylvania. We have come a long way from just providing rural electric service. Today, we provide new products and services that meet the demands of today's lifestyle.

As a member of REA Electric Cooperative Inc., you are also an owner. When you make a payment to REA Electric Cooperative Inc., a portion of that payment goes directly towards your investment in our electrical system. Unlike investor-owned utilities that generate profits on behalf of shareholders, not-for-profit electric cooperatives return any profits, or margins, to their members in the form of capital credits.
Think you can make a difference at REA Energy? Each year we hold mail-in elections for 2-3 board of directors based on revolving four year terms. You must reside in the board district in which you would like to run for election. For a complete list of requirements to run for the REA board of directors refer to Section 2. (a) of Article III of our By-laws.
Co-ops were developed to fill a need not addressed by other kinds of businesses, such as single owner, partnership, and investor-owned. One of every four Americans is a member of a cooperative. Even if you're not a co-op member, you still depend on cooperative businesses for essential products and services.
Touchstone Energy Cooperatives is a national network of electric cooperatives that provides resources and leverages partnerships to help member cooperatives and their employees better engage and serve their members. By working together, Touchstone Energy cooperatives stand as a source of power and information to their 32 million member-owners every day.

Well here we go another night of sitting in the dark with REA. Tom Beresnyak is a liar period. He is on the board. Of course he's going to say Rea is reliable, he has to. He stopped at my house when he was running to be a board member on Rea. He told me REA was looking into providing cell phone service or something in the area in the near future as an incentive to vote for him.
I told him REA CANT keep the power on yet be a cell service provider? REA is selling & installing natural gas furnaces & keep the power on? Ironic they can't keep the power on but are selling generators? REA also wants to play the blame game & keep saying Penelec is the problem. The power has been going off all summer long & now into the winter. If I could rate REA as a negative 5 I would! You're a joke REA!

They hold there customers hostages with high prices. They wont work with other power companys to allow co-oping. Which in pennsylvanua your allowed to do but they wont set reasonable prices. Also they are hesitant in taking paperwork about medical devices when the threaten to shut off your electric bill. If you have an option stay away.

We lose power all the time, for extended periods of time. This is just plain horrible. Why do we pay way more then when we had Penelec, yet have way worse service? This has been going on for years, and it only affects a stretch of houses on my road. It is frustrating when I can drive less than a 1/4 mile up the road and everyone has power.

I'm writing this because I saw negative reviews on google. We have been customers of REA for over 50 years and have only experienced great service over the years. Problems have been handled promptly and courteously by office personnel and by the service men. Thank yo for the many years of great service!

I've never had a problem with REA. If customers would pay their bills on time the company would have no reason to shut the electric off. From my understanding if you're going to be late on a payment call and let them know they're very understanding, things do happen. Life is to short to argue about little things. As always have a nice day;))
