I needed a big outlet installed outside of my garage. After reading so many positive reviews, I thought I would give Gunnar Electric a try, and they were right in the neighborhood. When I called to set the appointment, I was informed that the estimate would cost $100, and that would be credited when they did the work. I thought, a little odd, but there is also a cost to sending employee's around, I get it.
I thought that what the heck, it will just lower the bill a little, so I gave Kyla the card. Bart the estimator was out promptly, but got a little lost finding the house. Once there we reviewed the scope of the work. It would take a 50 amp outlet, about 3 feet of wire and a 2 pole breaker.maybe $100 worth of materials. A few days later, I get an email with the estimate.
I am still in awe at what I received, the estimate was for $897! I emailed back asking if the job would be based off of actual time and materials or the estimate only as in my head, it should have been maybe 1/2 that total or a little less. The response was the bill would be the estimate. I get it that the trades are VERY BUSY right now and folks can leverage this right now.
It was disclosed to me Gunnar Electrics estimating practices, but this was crazy money for maybe an hours work. I hope others will learn from my mistake and if you have a small repair or project, look for a different company. That is what I have been forced to do and have since went back to my customer centric business. Thanks for nothing Gunnar.

Gunnar Electric had done work for me a few years back. They did an excellent job then so I contacted them again. I had an intermittent problem which they tracked and fixed. Gunnar has done multiple projects at our house over the last 2 years. Wonderful to work with! Explain what they are doing. Do it professionally. Clean up afterwards. Always polite. And the Service dept is great at getting things set up / followed up on if needed. (My biggest concern is people may read this, book up all their time, and next time when I need them for help they will be so booked I will have to wait :) Current timing was very reasonable given today's construction boom. )

Absolutely outstanding service for our three different jobs (fix non-working ceiling light, upgrade a breaker, install a ceiling fan). The phone was actually answered when we called, people were sent out in a timely manner (sometimes the same day!) and the prices were extremely reasonable. Now I just wish they did plumbing too!

I contacted Gunnar Electric to install our Tesla Wall Charger in our garage. Our installation was tricky as our electrical panel is in our finished basement on the opposite side of the house of the garage. Terry stopped out to review the project and felt confident they could fish the cable from the panel to the unfinished utility room under the garage, with the possibility of having to put in an access hole in the finished ceiling.
During the installation they did have to cut a access hole in the ceiling but decided to add an additional can light at that location (at no charge) which was a great addition and they did excellent work! From start to finish the Gunnar Electric team were very responsive, kept us up to date regarding scheduling, and were very friendly and courteous. I highly recommend them!

I approached Gunnar Electric due to the amount of positive reviews but was ultimately disappointed based on my experience with the electrician who performed the estimate and the quotes that were provided. Gunnar Electric was quick to respond and reach out to schedule an appointment - they told me they would require a $100 fee for the electrician to visit and make an estimate.
I understood that it is not uncommon for a trip visit fee in order for the electrician to make provide a detailed estimate. I will however note that the electricians we did end up using for the work did not require a fee to provide an estimate. The estimates we received, specifically for installing ceiling fans in bedrooms, where an existing light fixture existed, were almost double the quotes of other electricians.
The other quotes we received for side projects (e.g., replacement of a transformer, flush an existing receptacle, etc) were also significantly high. It was also clear from the quote provided, that the electrician didn't listen to me or didn't communicate clearly back to me during the visit on the scope as there were some items that I specifically said I did not want or need.
The scope of work I had planned also included duct work for a kitchen range hood - I was told by the electrician that they would work with a partner to provide an estimate and do the work. I never heard back about the ductwork. After our experience with the initial visit and receipt of the quote, we asked our neighbors and friends in the area - everyone agreed that the quotes were extremely high.
We ended up going with a recommendation from a neighbor for a different company who did not charge an estimate fee and their quotes were almost half the price. It was much smoother working with the other electrician company. We also worked with a local HVAC company who handled the installation of duct work and the kitchen range hood, etc. Any electrical needs would need performed by their sister company.
Working with them with the initial estimate was much more clear and easy to work with. I can't attest to the quality of work from Gunnar Electric but I was happy to work with other companies that were less expensive, and more straightforward and upfront about estimates and how work would be handled.

We will use Gunnar Electric again. They were professional, accomodating and did a great job. They came out and gave us a bid on the project we wanted to do. The electrician was on time, easy to work with and cleaned up the area when he was finished. The price for the job was very reasonable. Gunnar Electric is great. They sent Dolph out to look at the bathroom issues over our vanity, and he worked really fast, gave us the most affordable option to get things done more efficiently, which also saves us some money. We really appreciated the integrity of the company and the experience of their electricians. We are using them for all of our electrical needs.

I tried using these guys against my better judgment. I wanted to do a number of things such as installing 3 new outlets, installing 11 new recessed lights, installing a car charger in my garage for my Tesla, fixing a broken outlet, and moving an island in our kitchen. They don't do free estimates, and but did ballpark an estimate of $1500 to install a 220V charger for my Tesla. These should be about $500 max from other quotes I've received. This told me that they simply did not want my business. I gladly spent my money somewhere else.
