Chris and team did an amazing and quick job installing a couple outdoor flood lights on our house. Thank you Zach and Jeff for the excellent service! It was great working with both of you and we'll definitely call back for all our electrical problems. These guys are the best. They came in and efficiently switched out our fuse box to a breaker box, so we could sell our house under FHA. They even put in a box so the new owners have room to add on if they need to. I would use them and highly recommend them over and over.

Randy's Electric was quick to respond to our initial outreach for service. Shout out to Joel Hicks for his great service. He showed up on time, talked through our concerns/needs and quickly identified solutions. Joel took the time to explain what was needed and costs involved up front and explained/showed us what was done when he finished. He was extremely professional and friendly and went above and beyond in cleaning up and moving items back to their original location (cleaner than it was when he started!) Highly recommend Joel and Randy's Electric!

I was very happy with my experience with Randy's Electric. All aspects were great, from my initial call and appointment scheduling (with a two-hour window, rather than a whole morning), to a personal phone call to remind me of the appointment, to Richard the electrician, calling to tell me he was on his way, to the reasonable trip charge, to him offering me more than one option for fixing the problem.
He even reattached my dryer vent when he was finished. When I offered my appreciation, he said, "I like to leave things better than I found them." The whole experience was impressive.

I give them two stars for the following, 1. Showed up on time and confirmed appointment 2. The person doing the scheduling was great she made me feel like the work was going to be great A business cannot run solely on a great front office person. The first electrician several years ago charged 400.00 for two outlet installations, his work was great ( it was more than I expected but worth it) when I went to book them again he was no longer there, this time I needed an outlet and a light switch, just over a thousand dollars later and instead of connecting the switch he merely un connected my front porch light which still doesn't work and re routed my entry light to the front porch light switch ( this is a double switch box to begin with) After several emails and a phone call two months later and still no response.
I have lost my confidence in Randys electric and was torn about reviewing them here, however I don't want anyone else to be out 1,000 dollars, for basically one added outlet. There are other options out there and I'm going to cut my loss and look for another electrician.

I chose Randy's because of the exceptional reviews I read online. I have had really poor electrical work in the past. Showing up late. Not getting done what I needed or requested. So I was determined to find the best. And I did! Greg was exceptional. On time. Super helpful. Did great work. Talked to me about everything that came up and offered multiple solutions.
He was very friendly and very easy to work with. I cannot say enough about how great the experience was. He did a ton of work. And quickly. He also had Cody (?) help on the second day. And he was also fantastic. They even helped move a couple of heavy deliveries inside. Above and beyond! Really do not look any further. Use him!

The experience at Randy's Electric is phenomenal. The office staff is very friendly and willing to help. The electrician called me on their way and gave a time for their arrival. They showed up when they said they would and were very courteous. They wore shoe covers and were respectful of my home. They diagnosed and solved the problem very quickly. The price was very reasonable for the quality of work they delivered. I will continue to use Randy's for any electric needs!

We are so happy with the service we received from Randy's electric. The appointment schedulers were kind, professional, and were able to offer an appointment the next day. Our electrician, Tom, was highly knowledgeable about all of our needs. He was thorough and detailed regarding the estimate of work and provided a detailed breakdown. For our new dishwasher, Tom installed the dedicated breaker in the panel box, wiring, and outlet and made sure that we can also use it for a garbage disposal if we want. We also received estimates for work that we may wish to do in the future. Tom was kind and a pleasure to interact with! We highly recommend Randy's electric!

We called and described what we were looking to do (exchange 6 light fixtures and potentially exchange a few new outlets). We have a modern house, so no weird old wiring or anything. The rep on the phone wouldn't give an estimate because they aren't an electrician, which is fine, but thought the work would probably be a couple hours. When we asked what the hourly rate was, we were told there isn't one specifically.
When the two guys showed up, they were extremely nice and personable (no complaints about their demeanor whatsoever). However, I was quoted at $2,843 if we wanted the lights and outlets with a house hold surge protection and quoted at $1,993 to just do the work without the surge protection. We were under the impression it would be a couple hours of work at some hourly rate. Again, we have modern house, we aren't putting in lights that didn't exist before. We're using all the same wiring and plates that exist.
Just removing and replacing the light fixtures. That was quoted at two thousand dollars! I refused the work and still had to pay $60 for nothing. I wouldn't mind paying the $60 for the consultation/time if it was a reasonable quote, but I feel like I was just taken for $60 with an outrageous quote when we were misled that it would just be a couple hours of work (and it is just an hour of work to exchange the fixtures, not something outrageous complicated and time consuming). I'll be sure to let anyone I know doing electrical work to look elsewhere for assistance.

Branden showed up within the scheduled time block and called 1/2 hour prior to arriving. He was very professional and very knowledgeable. After I explained the problem, he explained exactly what he planned to do and how much it would cost. He also explained a couple of upgrades to our system we may want to consider doing sometime based on the age of our house but never tried to push us to do them now like some companies do.
He completed the work quickly with outstanding workmanship. He pulled the permit and the company set up inspection. The cost may be a little high, I did not do any price comparison, but the quality of the work was well worth it. He tested everything when complete and cleaned everything up after the job was complete. He wore bootys to protect floor and carpet, very considerate worker. I would recommend Branden and this company to anyone and would have them do work in the future.

Brandon provided the kind of service we've come to expect from Randy's. He was timely, knowledgeable, and laid out practical options and solutions for our project with pricing for each. This helped us make an improvement to our home that we wouldn't otherwise have been aware of. He also took the time to provide suggestions for other projects we have. We are looking forward to working on these projects with Randy's again in the future.

Randy's Electric was very responsive. The sent a great electrician, Zack to evaluate my need to add an outlet required for the installation of a stair lift. Zack took the time to explain all the options and complications involved and was able to perform the work immediately. The worked was performed quickly and professionally. I thought the price was high for the time and materials needed, but he got the job done and I'm pleased overall.

Six months ago one of the electrical circuits in my house went out. Each of the electric services I called said they charged by estimates, not an hourly rate. Since I had found this strategy was an attempt to raise rates to over $200 an hour I resisted but, desperate, finally caved in and agreed to have someone from Randy's Electric come out.
I told Dan, the hireling, that I was quite willing to pay a reasonable rate but hated to be screwed over. He looked me in the eye and solemnly assured me he would never do that. After he walked about for perhaps a half hour he told me that the job rated the price package of about $580. I agreed and after two and half hours more of what he call his "complete diagnostic', the lights came on and I paid--about ^$670 with the trip charge.
Oh yes, he told me the problem was caused by something like "loose fittings." Four days ago the problem arose again; this morning it took a handyiman five minutes to tell me me that the shut off circuit was caused by a tripped GFCI box in the basement. Probably Dan diagnosed the problem in the same time and then padded about the house for almost three hours to justify the charge.
To quote another complaint about Randy's Electric "The state needs to investigate these people." Based on my experience their workers are trained to be as dishonest as necessary. Bob S. 1/08/22

Randy's Electric was the best to work with! They contacted me promptly to set up an appointment and had availability the next week. The electrician was very nice, took the time to explain in detail what was going on, and gave us options for repair at different price points. They were very professional and we will definitely use Randy's again!

We had no idea what was wrong with our outlets and switches- they kept going out. The technician arrived and was very courteous, smart and good problem solver. He took time to explain everything. He didn't tell us we had to repair everything, but gave us options. He was able to replace everything same day. Great service. Great company

I just had Joe out to work on a couple different issues we were having. Install light switch and overhead light, fix a couple popped or receded outlets, fix a flickering bathroom light and get an outlet up and running. From start to finish Joe was amazing! This is the first time I've had to work with an electrician and Joe made the process so smooth and easy.
We did a walk through of all the issues then he made his recommendations. After deciding what we wanted done and agreeing to the quote, Joe went to work! He was quick and extremely efficient, communicated when needed and did a great job cleaning up after himself. We have two dogs at home and he was great about them coming up to him! Also I have to give him props for willing to work in a mask, my mother lives with us and is immunocompromised so it was really great of him to go that extra step to keep us comfortable! I'd call Randy's again anytime I need electrical work done and ask for Joe! Thanks again!

I paid $1000.00 to have a downed power line reattached to my house. They knew I couldn't find another electrician to do the work. So, they really stuck it to me. I also had to pay them over the phone with a credit card before they would even come to my house. The state of Minnesota needs to investigate this company.

Randy's Electric is a very greedy company without providing much in the way of work. First, we were charged $89 just for the visit. It took less than a minute to fix the problem with the circuit breaker. On his way out the door I asked if he had ever worked on the long fluorescent tube lighting. He said no but mentioned some new products that would be coming on the market that might work.
He was in our house less than 20 min but told me he had to charge me $259 for his opinion. I was outraged. We had just moved to Minnesota and hadn't got our bearings yet. I gave him the money and filed the receipt. I still have it. He didn't warn me I would be charged for his speculative opinion. I was just glad to get him out. I think it's insane to even charge for the initial visit. It hinders the ability to get other opinions, at least for people who aren't wealthy. Disgusting.

Keep an eye on your wallet! $300 to replace.not newly install.a light over the front door. It took less than an hour. So if you can find a decent electrician for less than $300 per hour I'd go that direction. Shame on me for writing the check.call it being so stunned I wasn't thinking straight. When I regained my senses the next day and wrote to say that I thought $300 was excessive for a simple fixture replacement, they responded with an itemized bill which only made them look even more ridiculous. I'm fairly certain they'll put more energy in responding to this post because it benefits them to do so. Randy's is a racket. Hard pass!

I have used Randy's in the past and found them expensive, but i was in need of an electrician for a couple of simple jobs. I had them go up on a ladder and shorten the chains on two chandeliers, probably 20 minutes of work. That was $200. I had them move a receptacle down 4 inches on the wall. The box and receptacle was already wired and only needed to be placed in the wall.
All they had to do is cut a new hole and secure the receptacle with four screws. This took them 15min and the cost was a whopping $400.00. I believe Randy's people work on healthy commission schedule which only costs you, the customer, too much money They also gave me a price to put in under counter kitchen lights at $2300. and installing two new plugs for $1800.
I had another electrician in the house at the same time and he bid half of what Randy wanted. It's a total rip off. They do good work, but I will never, ever use them again. Tim, St. Paul, MN 8/13/2020

I thought they did an amazing job with the installation, but left a bit of a mess. They had to drill through joists in basement to pull electrical wires through.and left the sawdust that was produced for me to clean up. I do not mind doing a bit of cleanup.and honestly have not hired an electrician in years.but I assumed they clean up after themselves. Also, was extremely expensive to have the work done. Was quoted approx $1,500 to install 2 outlets that fed to 2 separate breakers, so I could power my newly installed sump pump.
I was expecting a few hundred dollars. I eventually had $2,500 worth of work done because of other issues the electrician found.but was blown away at the cost quoted just to add 2 outlets in an unfinished basement. **04-07-2020 My thoughts and feelings regarding Randy's Electric have changed dramatically over the last month or so. I had to have the work reviewed by Mpls city inspector.
He said the work was satisfactory and he would sign off on it and close the permit. As we chatted, I mentioned the cost of the project. He couldn't believe how much I was charged ($2,465) for the work that Randy's Electric performed. He told me given the work that was done.and given his work as an inspector.he would expect to pay around $500.
So in his opinion, I was overcharged $1,965! About 3 weeks ago, someone from Randy's Electric reached out to ask for feedback on how things went. I told her what the inspector said and that I was very unhappy and felt that I was taken advantage of. She told me that she would pass along this feedback to management and that they would be giving me a call.
I have never received that call back.and I'm not surprised. Please.before hiring an electrician, make sure to get multiple quotes and do some research in to those businesses before you hire. Had I done a better job of that, I would have saved my self a couple thousand dollars.

We are new homeowners in a neighborhood that is known to have some crime. So we purchased a Ring security system and Ty from Randy's Electric was excellent at installing everything for us! We have also been having problems with our kitchen wiring and he gave us a straight forward answer of the best solution and a quote within minutes. We are very impressed with his work and will be calling Ty in the future! Thank you!

I learned my lesson. Randy's does not give quotes over the phone and requires a trip out to provide a quote on any job. My job was a simple chandelier replacement. The electrician quoted me at $399 for the job plus the $59 trip fee, anticipating it would take about an hour to do. You can find an hourly electrician for much less than $399/hr. Even to get the quote, you still have to pay the $59 trip fee.
The electrician said that their job prices are standardized. If that is the case why could they not give me the $399 price over the phone, even if it's a ballpark figure assuming no complications? Like I said, I learned my lesson and will stick with hourly agreements in the future. I ended up declining the job and paying the trip fee.

Not thrilled, to say the least. I called and simply wanted advice. The person on the phone said that wouldn't be a problem. It would cost $60 for them to come out and then they could guide me. I was more than willing to do the work myself. The electrician (Jeremy) came and ended up quoting me $2,200 to do the work. I said that isn't what I wanted.
I still had to pay $60. I wish the guy on the phone would have just said, we don't offer that service. They got $60 for a 10 minute conversation **UPDATE*** Randy's Electric called and asked if I wanted to move forward with the work. I declined and explained my frustration to the woman. She understood and offered me a refund. Shocked doesn't do justice to my response. I'm very thankful for her understanding - and will reach out to Randy's if I have electric work I need done. Response to Randy - Yes, I completely understand that. That was not my issue. My issue was I paid $60 for an answer I could have gotten over the phone.

I was having issues with breaker box. Technician Mike Gagne identified and corrected the issue almost immediately. It was easy to schedule an appt with Randy's and their prices were very competitive. Some outfits were charging exorbitant fees just to show up. Extremely satisfied. Go with Randy you won't regret it. A+

This was my worst experience from any of the trades. I paid for an estimate and Randy gets to the site, looks around and tries to leave and say he didn't want to give a bid. Of course I need the work done and ask him to give me an estimate. He says, "I won't even touch this house unless I tear it all out and redo it all." He tells me 25k and leaves.
He did not give me a real estimate but still charged me. What a racket this guy is running. This is why they tell you never pay for an estimate. If I could give less starts I would.

Poor experience and unprofessional serviceman. The guy gave me a bunch of "cheap" solutions to fix a longterm issue. He was more focused on making quick money so that he'd have to come back and redo the work. Also, I needed track lighting replaced. The only viable solution I was given was let them pick the lights, install them, and I'd pay $1500 without even being able to pick out my own product.
After speaking with their office manager, he said he'd send me a picture of what the lights would look like. He never followed up and sent the picture (now 1 week later). I called a more reputable electrician (that a lighting store recommended), and their rate was excellent, and before I could explain, they said "I can imagine you want to pick your own track lighting, right?" Duh!
Who would pay $1500 for something they can't even pick out? They explained that I could simply let them know the part number, and they'd tell me what additional pieces to purchase so that they could install. 5-minute conversation and DONE! Randy's Electric told me they'd charge me to give me information about what type of lighting I'd need to purchase. I would not recommend this company.

They were a bit deceptive with me when I spoke with them on the phone. Please note: I did not have work done by Randy's electric. They may do very good work for all I know. I called for a quote and it costs $59 for them to come out and give me one. I was hesitant to agree to that and they told me its normal for electricians to do that. I contacted the next few names on yelp, 'Tim Kunkel Electric' and 'Stafford Home Service' were able to give me a quote over the phone/email and 'Hitec Electric' is coming out to give me a quote free of charge.
It appears that they were not totally honest when they said charging for a quote is normal. I understand a quote over the phone isn't always accurate, but I'd at least like to know what the average cost is for the service I'm seeking. Otherwise, I cannot make a meaningful comparison.
