Jim is a 1978 graduate of Kearsley High School. From a family of electrical contractors, Jim completed his IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship in 1987. Most of his career was spent with Newkirk Electric, where he rose from Journeyman up to Flint Division Manager. His project experience is huge ranging and includes medical, industrial and commercial projects of all kinds.

In June of 1986, James A. Ranck established his own electrical contracting company after dedicating over 12 years to the field as an electrician. Along with a partner, the company was founded under the name of Roy & Ranck Electric in Flint, Michigan. After 15 months in business, Jim became the sole owner and changed the company name to J. Ranck Electric and the location to Coleman, Michigan.
