Murphy Family Electric | Electrician Great Falls VA

If I could give this business a zero I would. It is easy to schedule online, but then they don't show up or when they do, they don't fully fix the issue. I have been going back-and-forth with them since August to get an issue resolved and they are refusing to fix the problem and continually trying to charge me more. This is an electrician ponzi scheme.

The electrician did decent work but was messy and did not clean up after himself. He lost a nut to an outdoor light fixture so I got two magnets to use in trying to find it in the dirt. I gave one to the electrician and I used the other to comb through dirt and leaves to find it. Well, he pocketed the magnet and has not returned it to me, despite my attempts to reach him and get it back.

Rave Review- This is the second time we have used Murphy Family Electric. Each time the electrician has been outstanding. All the repairs and upgrades have been excellent and have stood the test of time. Dan was our electrician this time. He was on time despite some parking issues in my neighborhood. Very knowledgeable and experienced! Can't say enough good things about this company.

I am a retire combat veteran who just moved into a new home with unexpected electrical issues. On Feb 14, I spent 3-5 hours calling electricians and waiting on call backs which resulted in the earliest appoint was a week out. I contacted Murphy Family Electric and they were able to come out the following day! I was met my an outstanding and highly seasoned Technician (Chase Nelson)!

Upon arrival, he was very genuine, courteous and attentive in listening to the issues. Once done, I showed him were everything was located and he immediately troubleshot. Needless to say, Chase fixed all seven electrical issues in under 30 minutes to include provided an explaination in lament terms. This was my first time using this company as well as Chase's first day on the job. Murphy Family Electric hired a true life Master Electrician and valued teamplayer!

I'd recommend Chase to my family members and closest friends with no hesitation! If you want an electrician and master technician who knows what he's doing, then call Murphy Family Electric ask for Chase, I know I will! Chase I can't thank you enough for coming throuh and helping me out in pinch!

I sent out a request for bids on Saturday evening through Yelp, and Murphy Family Electric responded with a quote within minutes. By Sunday morning, I had a service appointment for 9 AM Monday. The service tech (Sean/Shaun?) was 7 minutes early and had the work done in less than 30 minutes. End product looks perfect and works great. Will use them for anything and everything I need going forward.

Called them to trouble shoot an electrical issue. On the first visit, the technician thought he found the problem and was able to get the power restored. However, after a few days the same electrical issue occurred again so the problem was not fixed. So, I'm Okay with this, it happends. Called the company to have them come out again (logical right?) to really find and fix the problem.

This where the Service turned Poor in my opinion. The next technician that came, did not have a clue as to what the first technician did and they were asking me who came and what they did! The technician was not able to determine what the problem was again, charged me for the trip and suggested I book a full day of Electrical support and thought a new panel might be needed.

So I paid for 2 visits with no resolution although they did offer to credit the second visit but only if I booked a full day work with them (I don't think so). Not cheap. I called another Electrical company who found and fixed the problem in 15 mins and saved me a full days booking from Murphy Family Electric. Will not use them again. Beware!

Steven is great! I was able to schedule an appointment online Steven was out 2 days later. He hardwired our new hot tub and was professional, prompt and completed the work in a timely manner. Will hire again for future. Thanks Steven!

Dan was the best electrician I have ever had. I had a rather long list of electrical service items just waiting for Dan. I didn't know if he would get to everything so we set a priority: the kitchen. I needed new switches, new GFIs, new light fixtures. I have been cooking in almost darkness for quite a while. Dan was great. He tackled the items on the list professionally, expertly and efficiently.

I almost cried when I turned on the light switch and it worked. Dan stayed so focus on the job and tasks around my house. I could tell he was determined to complete the items on my list. What I appreciated about Dan was he was so friendly and was eager to share information, such as why things didn't work anymore, the best light bulbs to replace old hot bulbs, and suggested future electrical work I may want to consider. Dan was so nice and very patient with me.

He listened to my concerns. He even took the time to vacuum and clean up after the work was completed. I told him he didn't have to do that, but he insisted. And guess what: Dan completed every item on my list. I am very pleased and very happy. I still can't believe I lived in my house for so long with lights and sockets and switches that did not work for so long. I should have call you guys a long time ago. Thanks, Dan. As I said to you just before you left my home, "I appreciate you".

Gave me a quote and then charged me 2 times the amount. Wouldn't answer their phone so I could talk to them and explain the issue.

I can't say enough positive things about this company and our skilled electrician, Robert. Our home was built in the 1970s and didn't come with a doorbell. Robert was highly recommended by a neighbor, so I also requested him. Robert texted us when he was on the way, came exactly at the time he said he would, and thoroughly explained everything that would and could occur to complete the job.

I was provided choices, he was immaculately clean, incredibly courteous and got the job done swiftly and efficiently. This was honestly the best experience we've had with any service request at our home (and we've had a lot)! Choosing Murphy Family Services and requesting Robert is the best choice for your home!

There scheduling service is suspect, had an 0800-0900 appointment but could not show up until after 2 pm. The electrician who came out, really did not do much and left recommending I contact another repairman but still charged me $185 and my equipment was still not working. I am a novice electrician and after a few days of troubleshooting the connections I was able to get my device working on my own.

It was a misaligned neutral wire, something pretty basic, that any professional electrician should have found pretty quickly. Based on my experience if you need electrical work done, you are probably better off doing it yourself than using Murphy Family Services they are just in it for the money and don't care about fixing the problems.

I had a very positive experience with Murphy Family Services in Portland, Oregon. Positives: - Communication was very easy over the website and via text messaging. They were very responsive. - I was able to set up an appointment and have a technician arrive all within two hours. They also helped me identify the block of time I needed to reserve prior to making the appointment. -They were able to resolve the issue quickly. Negative: -I wish the technician that came by had been wearing a mask, but shame on me for not mentioning it to them before starting the work.
