Services
There's a strong connection between J.F. Electric and the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. At the time, St. Louis served as a springboard for westward expansion. The Louisiana Purchase Exposition, also known as the 1904 World's Fair, was part of a building boom in St. Louis that attracted people from across the globe - including James Fowler, who was born and raised in Pennsylvania and, after completing 8th grade, became a plumber.
Headquartered in Edwardsville, Illinois, J.F. Electric brings a wealth of electrical knowledge and experience to the St. Louis metro area and the greater Midwest. With every project, it's our goal to fully understand the needs of our customers. Then we deliver value by finding the right combination of electrical design and construction services whether it's for our utility, commercial, industrial or communications customers.
J.F. Electric has a long history of working in sync with our utility customers to truly understand the needs of the project. That allows us to deliver innovative solutions so we can safely and correctly complete projects on time and on budget. J.F. Electric's experienced workforce and extensive resources are key reasons why clients turn to us for their transmission, construction and maintenance needs.
Built in 1913, the Meppin-Quincy 138kV line was one of the oldest transmission lines in this utility's system. Through the years, some of the steel members were removed for various reasons. Many structures had been altered by making all the conductor supports into floating dead ends to gain ground clearance.

They made a hole in front of my house for a temporary pole. The pole came out and they filled it in, which lasted until the first rain storm. Now there is a 4 to 5-foot hole waiting for someone to fall into. Called them to report it and all they did was flag it off. Two weeks later still not filled in yet.

J.F. Electric has been working on replacement of overhead power lines near our business and their safety and quality record has been terrible. First, hey hit one of our buildings with a truck and refused to repair or pay for repair. Next they nearly killed one their own employees by causing a transformer to fall from the air and starting a fire on the ground.
This caused the entire street to lose power for an entire weekday. Lastly, in a separate incident, they snapped a power line, causing it to swing down into the road and making us lose power again. Calls to the owner and to the "safety director" have not been returned. Not only are they responsible for physical damage and lost productivity, their work has serious potential to hurt or kill people.

I would highly recommend JF Electric. They were out here within 30 minutes of me calling and got my power back on within a few hours. A tree hit my power line and tore the power line through my roof all the way down to my basement. They had to rebuild all of the exterior and some of my the interior electrical. They were very professional while being personable. It was a stressful situation for me since it was 100 degrees outside on a Friday afternoon when I called them but they put my mind at ease and got the job done right.

The linemen from the St. Louis branch are extremely hard workers. I was without power for 13 days here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa due to 140mph winds. These guys worked 14-18 hours a day without complaining and never showed signs of slowing down even though you know they were tired. My hats off to the J.F. Electric guys who got our power back up and going. I would highly recommend this company

They blocked access to my garage for an entire day without any advanced notice then were EXTREMELY RUDE to me when I showed the slightest amount of frustration about not being able to access my garage (which I happened to need that day and was on a time crunch). If you have a policy that says your teams are supposed to notify folks of something that impacts access to their property (a postcard, knocking on the door, really anything) - you aren't following it.
And if you don't have a policy (especially in this case when the job was NOT emergency work) than you need to get one because you are giving your company a bad name by treating homeowners this way. Update: 1 week and 1 day later: your newly installed pole has exploded 4 times tonight - half the block out of power - fire-department saw from far away and came on their own - Ameren on the way - no answer on your emergency line. nice.
